Conference Theme:

Understanding the factors impacting upon HRM at industry

and occupational levels

Papers which address these issues from an ER, IR, HRD, OB or Educational perspective are invited.

Abstracts and/or full papers (refereed), to be included in the Proceedings,

 must be received by

31st May, 2010

Abstracts and/or full papers (non-refereed) will be accepted until

1st July, 2010

Guidelines:
  • A separate cover page, within the paper (doc. File) setting out the full names of each author, their position, institution, postal address, email and phone numbers must accompany each abstract and paper.
  • When submitting papers, the track in which they are to be included, should be indicated.
  • The paper should be saved as a doc. file and named as “Surname – Track”.
  • Abstracts should be no more than 500 words and provide a summary of the paper.
  • Style notes for papers are detailed below.
  • Abstracts and papers received before 31st May, 2010, will be refereed prior to the conference.
  • Papers submitted for refereeing will be double-blind refereed.
  • All papers submitted for refereeing must be original works, not published previously.
  • All refereed and non-refereed abstracts and papers will be electronically published on disk.
  • All refereed papers will be considered for publication in the IERA journals, the International Employment Relations Review (IERR) and the International Journal of Employment Studies (IJES).
  • All abstracts and papers are accepted conditional upon at least one of the authors being a paid registrant for the conference.
  • Authors are limited to a maximum of two papers.
 
 
Style Notes for Papers

Please use:

  • Times New Roman 12  point
  • Double line spacing
  • Block paragraphs
  • Page numbers
  • Margins set at 3cm left, right, top and bottom
  • Australian spelling (refer to the Macquarie Dictionary at http://www.macquariedictionary.com.au
  • Although papers are to be submitted in double spacing, as a guide for paper length they should not exceed 10 pages in single spacing which includes cover page, tables, figures and references.
 
Major section
  • Major section headings should be preceded by a line space and be formatted in bold type. 
  • Minor section headings should be preceded by a line space and formatted in italic type.
  • ‘Quotations’ should be set in single inverted commas.  Emphasis, foreign words and foreign phrases should be set in italics.
 
Citations

The Harvard method is required.  Citations should be formatted as follows:

(Author year: page number), for example:

  • (Bean, 1995: 2-5)
  • (Bean, 1993: 2-5; Bamber, Park, Lee, Ross and Broadbent, 2000:1)
  • (Bean, 1995 cited in Bamber et al, 2000:12)
  • (Bean, 1995 in Bamber et al, 2000: 9)

Citations in publications with more than two authors should list all authors in the first instance, and use ‘et al’ for subsequent citations.

 
Reference List

Present references in Times New Roman, 10 point, with hanging indent formatted as follows:

  • Chew, S.B. and Chew, R. (2001), ‘The Cost and Benefits Model of Union Membership’ International Employment Relations Review, Vol. 7, No. 1, pp. 1-8
  • Bean, R. (1995), Comparative Industrial Relations: An Introduction to Cross-National Perspectives, Second Edition, London: International Thomson business Press

Tables and Figures
  • Tables and figures should be numbered consecutively.
  • Place the title flush to the left margin, above the table in bold type, with one line space above.
  • Insert tables and figures in the text where they are meant to appear.
  • For final publication, send additional files containing tables and figures and the spreadsheets used to produce them.
  • Tables and figures should be included within the document which must comply with the 10 page, single space, size restriction as referred to above.
